New HP Photosmart All-in-one Wireless C410a - Ink Not Flowing?? [ Edited ]

Hi All

This new printer is driving me NUTS! Its a wireless version of the one I just replaced so should be relatively simple but it seems to have a mind of its own and works when the hell it wants to.

The inks that it came with are running out, so I have replaced them with the same HP quality inks although they are "XL" HP inks that were used but still full from the other model that died on me. The XL size is the same but appartently has more ink and lasts longer? The printer screen says that the ink levels are AOK but the inks I have replaced don't print on the paper? The large black cartridge that I replaced usually does most of the printing but my paper is just coming out plain white? The printer is not registering any problems but no ink is flowing? Help Please....

PS: I have tried to allign the printer and it says Allignment Failed??

Hi,

If I understand correctly the xl cartrdiges that are not working have been used in your previous printer? How long did you store these cartridges outside of the printer and how did you store them?

They have been sitting in my draw for about 2 months? Is that my problem?

The printer says the cartridge is full. Also do you know why it fails to allign when I run that through tools?

HI,

It's very likely that that is the problem, a cartridge that is exposed to air will dry out in about 24 hours, due to the printhead being very small, so not much time is needed. As the printer does not print alignmnet will off course fail as a page is ussualy printer for this.
