If you install a new cartridge and see a message 'Older Cartridge ' or 'Cartridge for older Generation of printer’, then refer to the link below....
|If the cartridge is still in the packaging, find the Warranty Ends date on the back of the package. If there is a ‘v1’ several spaces to the right of the date, then the cartridge is the updated version.|

Can someone please tell me where I can find the list of compatible printers for the "new generation" HP 61 cartridges? On the links, it is said that a list will be made available in 2013. We are almost the end of 2013 and I cannot find the list anywhere. Please help.

It would be printers released this year such as the Envy 4500, Envy 5530, Deskjet 1010 etc.
Which printer model do you have?

What irritates me is that I bought a backup HP 61 combo-pack in late December 2013 for my ENVY 5530. Looks identical to the cartridges that came with the printer which I bought earlier in December 2013. There is no warning on the external package nor the cartridge overwrap about being older generation. In fact, the number on the printed cartridge label says CH561W, same as the original cartridge. It is not until I installed the cartridge in the printer that the warning comes up about it being an older cartridge. And now I read that the faint printing on the plastic is what counts and it reads '2013/11/29' which is earlier than the 2014/04/01 per the earlier post in this thread. So how was I supposed to know that the drug store was carrying obsolete HP 61cartridges? Now I am left with two unusable cartridges. Phooey.
