I have a Photosmart C5180 sitting around for about 1 and a half year with all color cartidges empty. Is it posible that the printer head will be clogged?
I don't want to spend in 5 new cartriges only to trow it away.
I have one a new black ink cartridge but the printer won't print whithout all cartridges installed.
Other than that the printer is ok.

Was the printer stored with the cartridges not installed? If so the ink delivery system is likely clogged, possibly beyond recovery. If you have the old cartridges I would suggest installing them and then try printing a test page. If there are at least wisps of black and color then a fresh set of cartrdiges and three cleaning cycles may recover proper printing.
For your case the HP Photo pack might be a less expensive way to get the ink you need. This contains a set of six 02 cartridges and some photo paper for $40. If the printer turns out to not be usable it would be less expensive then buying a set of full size cartridges.
