Also having the same problem.  I returned my first cartridge thinking there was a problem with it.  Got a new one and it worked fine for about 3-4 days, now NO black ink again.  The other colors work fine.  Did you get any help or find out what the problem was??  My printer is a HP Officejet 6500.

 The community will need some more info in order to help out. What model of OJ 6500 is this printer? There are over 5 different OJ 6500 printer models. Did you clean the printheads from solution center or from the front panel of the printer or did  you clean the printhead manually by hand?
