When trying to check ink level I get error message "parameter is incorrect".

Using HP Officejet Pro e-all-in-one on network with Windows 7 64 bit and connecting wirelessly.  When I try to check ink levelfrom the laptop computer I get the error message "parameter is incorrect".  If I check ink level from the printer I have no problem.  Any suggestions as to why the error message?
