Why can't I refill my original HP cartridges?

I bought the deskjet 3050 all in one, after doing my research I understood the HP encouraged refills. However I am nit able to get my printer to print after I have refilled the cartridges? Why is this?

I am in the process of checking out my warranty and have found the serial number but I cannot locate the product number. Can anyone help me please? It just seems silly that I cannot refill the cartridges but I can buy a brand new printer with 2 new cartridge for the £26.00 - obviously this would be silly to buy another printer just for the cartridges - wouldn't it? If anyone can help please reply. Kindest regards

Hi leeleeliskeard

HP's page on the topic of refills is covered in this post

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Ink-Cartridge-and-Printhead/Original-HP-cartridges-and-why-they-matter/...

What product number are you having difficulty locating? If you have a DJ 3050, then the compatible cartridges are HP301 black (or HP301xl black) and HP301 color (or HP301xl color). For any queries on cartridge compatibility, check out SureSupply

For any queries on warranty, the links below may help

Re: Why can't I refill my original HP cartridges?

Thank-you, I am trying to refil the black on the HP301 with ink, rather than buying another cartrdige. It's not registering that it's been filled up. It's just saying the ink is low?
