The symbol indicate that it is the tricolor cartridge that is empty.
There is no way to truly use them equally. It al depends on what you are printing and the colors in the image. New printers come with starter cartridges that are not quite full. That is ,unfortunate for us, but it is an industry standard practice.
You can remove the tricolor cartridge and use the printer in single cartridge mode. That is one way of extending the usage in a situation such as yours. The only hassle is that you will only be able to print in black and white (greyscale).
Kind regards,
erico

Thanks for ur answer
Is there any way that when i am printing with HP2050
i tell the printer to use only black cartridge
and whenever i will require to use color, i tell it to use both
If i dont use color for lets suppose 10 to 15 days, will the cartridge get blocked
after how many days should i take atleast one print by using both cartridges so that they dont get blocked ( Somebody told me that if u will not use printer for longet time, the cartisges will get blocked or something like that .. is tht true)
thanks a lot

Select the printer and double click on it cick on it and then select customize your printer. See the following image. I highlighted where to select color or grayscale(black & white). I suggest using both tricolo and black cartridges.
As far as what somebody told you about how long before problems? All I can tell you is that you are better of keeping fresh cartridges in your printer to avoid issues happening. Use your best judgement.
Best regards,
erico
