I just need to print in Black, and have chosen that option in the printer properties. But I get a "Cannot Print" message on the printer itself. I understand that the Yellow ink is low, but it seems that I have to buy a new yellow cartridge to print in Black. How can I print in Black without buying a yellow cartridge?

Depending on your OS there are different methods to print in black only, such as selecting grayscale printing or 'black and white' also depending on the software you're using to print.
Which OS are you using?

I am aware of how to print in black only when the printer is working. The issue here is that a yellow tank is empty and regardless of OS the printer will not do anything until that tank is replaced, even print in Black only. At least that seems to be the issue. I welcome a solution short of buying another yellow cartridge so I can use the Black ink I have.

As far as I am aware there is not an override function to bypass this process.
