cartridge light blinks without any cartridge installed

recently bought 2 ink cartridge for this year old printer

print for 3 pages

a few days later power on

cartridge light blinks

power off and on again - same problem

remove cartridges - light blink

so what is the problem?

printer failed or cartridge spoiled?

Please share the printer model name/number so that I can understand the issue better and find a fix.
