I have a printer an HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2060 - K110 printer. When my black innk run out, I refilled it with a quality ink from a refutable ink store. After refilling with 3ml of black ink and reinstalling it to my printer, the printer still read it as empty.
Aside from carefully refilling the black cartridge I did nothing.
Do you think that refilling the cartridge has damages the electrical thing of the cartridge? THe printer still shows empty black ink and I dont know how to reset that counter so that I can go on printing again.
any help will be appreciated
The original HP ink has been used up once and the cartridge marked as empty. Refilling the cartridge will not change this, but you can ignore the low on ink indicator. See this page, which says:

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
However, it did not resolved the issue. I ignored the lights. And continue with the printing. The printer did print ofcourse but it printed a blank page because the printer reads the refilled black ink as empty so I think the printer has kept a memory that the black ink cartridge has runout of the original ink and has been keeping it despite that the cartridge has been refilled.
I religiously followed your suggestion but it didnt work for me.

"printed a blank page because the printer reads the refilled black ink as empty " - It is true that the black cartridge is marked as empty, but this would not prevent it from printing. Try printing a test page as shown in this document. Does the black nozzle pattern (highlighted with a red 2 in figure 3) print properly? If there is no ink in this area the problem is likely a bad refill, with air trapped in the printhead. In this case soaking the printhead in about 1" of very hot water for 10 minutes may resolve the issue.

Hi Bob,
I soaked the printhead for about 30min and then rinsed it. I wrapt it in a tissue towel and sway in in the air as if I am forcing the bubble in the printhead to come out until the ink started to come out. I was so excited and let it flow as I sway it. I neatly cleaned the cartridge (and my hands also) and it a SUCCESS!!!
Thanks alot Bob!
I've researched alot on the eHow and they gave me a very technical solution that I cant even follow and here is your simple explanation. It really doenst matter if the gauge says empty coz that's for the original ink counter and since I have refilled it so technically it has been refilled and so it should be printing. I guess I have left my cartridge long enough out in the air when I am trying to do the copper marking thing, putting tapes which only frustrates me alot.
Again, now I have resumed in my printing job.
KUDOS to you. You just earned a new fan!!
One more question though, my colored one is about to ran out also, is it okay to refill it now?

If you are going to refill it is probably better to do it earlier rather than later. Running completely out has more probability of leaving air bubbles or damaging the printhead.

The "incompatible" message would be the result of an electrical issue, either a failed cartridge or an issue with the electrical contacts between the cartridge and the printer.
The printer will report ink levels based on the original HP ink, once that is used up for a given cartridge it will show as empty.

My 4280 used to happily use the refilled cartridges. Now it won't. What is the override on the chip to make it work?

Hi, so is it that
a) the printer will still print but it can't read the ink levels of the refill?
Or
b) the refill is rejected by the printer and you can't print anything?
If it's b), one possibility is that the non HP ink has damaged the circuitry of the cartridge - meaning the printer can't 'read' it so that it can print. If that's the case, you may be able to go back to the refill store for a replacement.
Please let me know how you get on
Hope this helps, Ciara
