How do I clean the printheads on my psc 1315v?  I can find ways to print a test page.  I can see that the ink level is low.  But I can't for the life of me find a way to run a cleaning cycle on the printer.  I can't find it anywhere.  Clean printhead - how?

Running Windows 7 on a PC.

Thanks!

Nancy

nan2dance,

I am more then happy to help you with cleaning your printheads.

Clean the ink cartridges using an automated utility

Follow these steps to run a utility to clean the cartridges if you found defects on the extended self-test report.
  1. Open the Printers folder:
  2. Windows XP: Click Start , and then click Control Panel . In the Control Panel , double-click Printers and Faxes .
  3. Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Control Panel . In the Control Panel , double-click Printers .
  4.  The Printers folder opens.
  5. Right-click the icon for your product, and then click Printing Preferences . The Printing Preferences window opens.
  6. In the Printing Preferences window, click the Services tab, and then click Service this device . The printer Toolbox opens.
  7. Click the Device Services tab, and then click Clean the Print Cartridges .
  8. In the next box, click Clean . The cleaning utility runs, and the product prints a page with an illustration.
  9. Examine this test page for print-quality issues.

You can find instructions for print quality at the link below.

    I hope this helps.

I'm running Windows7.  There is no "Service" tab or anything resembling it when I open Printing Preferences.  Nor in Printer Properties, for that matter.  Do you have instructions for Win7?  Thanks though.

nan2dance,

These instructions are for windows 7 if the driver was installed correctly.

1.) Do you have the full feature software driver installed?
