Why is it when i do the cleaing of my printer it prints out in color. But when I try to print something in color its black and white.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What operating system? What printer settings do you have in the driver?  Look for a "Print in Grayscale" checkbox and uncheck it....

where do i find the printer setting? i have a compaq presaio pc. it used to print in color. had computer redone and now doesnt work.

Please let me know whaqt operating system you have.  For Windows click on Start (or the Start Orb) and in the start search box type System or Control panel, System.  This will show your operating system. 

Depending on your operating system the details will different, but for example the following would be the procedure in Windows 7:  Click Start, Devices and Printers, right click on the D4160, Printing Preferences, Color and uncheck the "Print in Grayscale" box.

OK, for Vista do the following:  Click Start, Control Panel, Printers, right click on the HP Deskjet 4100 series, Run as Administrator, Properties, (Continue), General,  Printing Preferences, Color, Print in color, OK, OK.

i did that and it still doesnt print in color
