my 6500 says that it has a paper jam

my 6500 says that it has a paper jam. This is not true. a message on the monitor says that the cartridge is stuck on the right side This appears to be accurate. Thiis is the first time this problem has occured.

Hello nucow, if you turn off the printer are you able to manually move the carriage to the center? I would recommend using as little force as possible to do this.

Hi Daniel,

 

Thanks for your response. 

 

I am not able to get the cartridge out of the locked position with or without the power on.  I tried putting the power off with just the button. and then unplugged the power source and still the cartridge remains in the the right side of the machine. 

 

I am looking for some mechanical lever that retains the unit, but can't find it. 

 

Message on small monitor continues to say that there is a paper jam.  I have checked evey where except behind or two the right side of the locked up cartridge.

 

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

It sounds like there may be a mechanical failure with this printer if it will not leave that locked position. You may want to contact HP to service the product or see if there are any other hardware options you can try. You can find the contact information here:
