I also tried all suggestions and unplugged for 30 seconds to reset.  Still does not print black

please, please, I am ready to trash this thing, does anybody have any other suggestions?

I  changed cartridges for black ink only and since then the printer prints but only in a very light grey.

Please explain what you did to "reset" your printer.

I disconnected the power from my printer while it was on for over 1 min.  I still cannot print black.

so, I tried the disconnecting the plug to reset the printer. still says ink is low.

How does one contact HP, and you are saying that they don't answer?

what a bunch of crap!  Still, anyone out there have any other suggestions?

A few days ago, our computer was prompted to do an update.  Not sure if that is related or not, but after the update was done, our printer will not print in black.  As above, all other colors are ok.  I too have aligned the heads, cleaned the heads, and done the unplug for 30 seconds reset mentioned on this thread.  Anyone else know what the original posters solution was?  Has anyone been successful getting your printer to print in black again?

sorry, i don't have the answer - i ended up buying a new printer.  

after eliminating everything else, it seemed that my printhead had gone bad.  as i'd had the printer for several years & it had endured pretty extensive use, i opted to replace the whole printer instead of just the printhead, but you can replace just the part.  there's a number to call with HP to order parts & i found it somewhere, but i don't remember how I got there anymore!  The part was about $45-50, including shipping, I think.

I am right with you and feel like throwing this machine out the window. I am seeing so many HP Officejet6500 wireless printers with this same problem of not printing the black ink and running through all this paper and ink in the cleanings and allignments which all still do not print anything black. I've soaked the printhead, replaced all the cartridges, and nothing. Even turned the machine off (reset) by pulling the plug out of the back and nada!

One guy went throught all the steps with no success, waited 4 days, had even ordered and received a new printhead, and tried the old one one last time, and it worked! I guess I could wait, but in the meantime, I've got no printer! Yuk.

I've just gone through a total replacement of the heads and all four ink cartridges. And guess what?  IT'S WORKING PRINTING VERY WELL> don't know why since i had replaced the same items before to no avail.

Maybe HP just wants you to spend as much as possible. Go figure
