photosmart C6180 All-in-One, Ink Problem

I have a C6180 All-in One on a Dell Med tower with Windows XP Pro system, It has worked good for the last few years.

I had a light cyan ink cartridge go empty a week ago and put a new cartridge in like always, but it keeps giving me a replace cartridge and wouldn't print, I tried again with another brand new cartridge from staples and had same message, cannot print.

So should I SHOOT this sucker or not.  RJ

Re: photosmart C6180 All-in-One, Ink Problem

Hi RJ1,

You might not want to shoot it until you try cleaning the contacts. See Step 2 of these instructions for how to do that:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00720996&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&la...

If that doesn't work, try turning it off, unplugging it for a few minutes, and then plugging it in and turning it on. If the error still appears, you can try the steps above again.

This is an older model, so the problem could be its age and you might have to get it serviced or you might consider seeing if there is a trade-in program available to get a newer model:

Best of luck,
Mary
