I can't see the printer either from my iphone nor Ipad as an Air Printer, even if it's connected to Wifi, and when I select the Direct-46- OfficeJet Pro 8730 it prompts me for a password that I don't have!!
How do I set up the admin password too, I'm sorry I had a 4630 which was really friendly and I bought this supposedly better one which is not at all intuitive!!

Hi,
You should not connect to the WiFi direct network, that's only intended for using the pritner without a router.
As your printer is connected to your network it should not be connected directly...
Swipe your finger from the top to te bottom of the screen, then tap the WiFi or ethernet icon and locate the printer's IP address.
- From any device open that IP via your browser to access the pritner homepage (EWS Page).
- Click the Settings tab at the top of the page.
- Click Security, and then click Administrator Settings
- Under Network Settings, ensure Airpint function is “checked” Then click Apply.
Now try printing from your iPad and check for any difference.
