I have had a new DeskJet 3522 for just a couple months,  When I tried to print a PDF yesterday, the black ink started printing very, very faintly, then faded completely away.  I assumed I was out of black ink, so I purchased a new HP black cartridge.  When changing the cartridge, the ink level showed some black ink left, but I changed the cartridge anyway.  The new cartridge also doesn't print.  There is still plenty ink in the color cartridges and it shows a full black cartridge.  Are the cartridge level displays  generally accurate?  Did I get a defective new cartridge?  What's the problem?  Thanks.

Hi, as the printer is still within warranty I would definitely suggest you contact HP Phone Support as you may require a replacement printer. Can you please let me know how you get on?

Hi, as the printer is still within warranty I would definitely suggest you contact HP Phone Support as you may require a replacement printer. Can you please let me know how you get on?

Thanks to HP phone support, I have been able to get the printer to print black again.  The support person had me do an align printer and it began to work again.   Thanks for your help.

Just wanted to say I was a person that my 3522 would not print my black ink.  After doing all the suggestions I was really mad that I was going to have to buy a new printer because nothing worked and not under warrantee, but as a last resort, I unplugged the printer from power and laptop, waited 30 seconds and plugged back in and my black ink now works.  Hopes this helps someone else.

I am so frustrated-- turning off  and on not working....  black ink still will not print, I've went through a new HP printer cartridge package, did all the trouble shooting, what next?  with so many reported problems, seems HP Customer Support only wants more money from you/me before they will even help once out of warranty.

Did you try the realign option in tools?  Mine print a test page with the new cartridge, but then failed to print repeatedly.  I Thought I had re-aligned already.  A cI cleaned cartridges and did another re-align and it is printing, not dark but I have fast print as default so that may be why.

I found the solution.  Previously, after other simiar failures over the years, I swore I would never buy another HP printer because of the worst in the industry non-tech support.  My son bought this 3522 for college and left it with us.  Now that it has died with no support, I bought another brand. 

 

I'm not here to advertise other competitors brand names, just go somewhere else, HP doesn't cut it and never has.
