Does anybody know if envelope printing problem on M600 series was ever resolved when NOT printing from MS Word?
We have a 1yr old M601 Printer with envelope feeder loaded with C5 envelopes.
We do NOT print envelopes from Word (for some reason the HP technical support actually support this one single application which I find amusingly annoyingly ridiculous), we print them from our ERP software and at same time the printer *should* also print regular Letter size jobs.
With latest M601 firmware as of today (2201057_231926 8 Dec 2012), we still can't normally print envelopes, user needs to run to the printer and hit OK button several times when printer asks to Load Tray1 with Plain EnvC5 as obviously it cannot automatically pull envelopes from envelope feeder (yes, it's configured correctly in Tray/Paper settings). with certain drivers (e.g. latest PCL6) it won't print envelopes at all, it will just print them on Letter size paper from Tray2 without asking for anything.
With old PCL6 driver it used to print envelopes after hittng OK (to override tray1 load paper request) and was printing ALL envelopes in queue (without another override request).
With new PCL6 driver (61.130.05.12834 1 Nov 2012) it prints to Letter size paper (from Tray2), not even asking for envelopes at all.
With latest PS driver (18.104.22.16830 15 Dec 2012) it prints envelopes after hittng OK (to override tray1 load paper request) after every single envelope, so if someone wants to print 15 of them, they will need to hit OK button 30 times (twice per envelope).
All of above happens when Printer's "Printing Defaults" are set to Factory or Everyday preset, then printing on envelopes is a problem.
However when I switch permamently the printer's defaults to Envelope preset then it prints all of the envelopes marvelously well without a glitch and at same time the problem starts with printing of regular Letter size jobs (need to hit OK twice to override).
Is HP ever going to fix it? somehow I doubt they ever will, since in 1 year time they failed to do so. will this product ever work as it should (read: as HP LaserJet 4200 used to work)?
if not printing from MS Word and not switching the preset print modes, it seems impsosible to use this printer as the device fails to automatically select the proper paper size/type based on print job. it's a massive flop.
