I have 10.5.8. I did install it from the cd. I read your other replies and have uninstalled and reinstalled from your link and I get all the way to adding the printer but it asks me from what driver and 6500e709n is not listed. I just threw everything in the trash and was going to try again but maybe I'll wait for your advice. Thanks alot.

Well you may rock but HP is really pissing me off right now. After six hours and reinstalling everything 5 times, now it prints but it takes 9 minutes to communicate from computer to printer before it begins to print. And now it is not recognizing the scanner. I pity the guy at Staples when I walk back in there tonight. And this just can't be me - obviously thousands of other problem posters. You guys should be ashamed.

This worked perfectly! Thank you so much! I got rid of the unnecessary HP folder / files, the Apple downloaded software works flawlessly and I'm a happy camper!
I keep trying to find things to print to prove you wrong, but it's not happening!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thanks, Regents Professor, for your helpful post. I realize your wireless printer solutions here were added over a year ago or more but they helped me figure out what was going on with my HP OfficeJet J6490 All-in-One and my iMac. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Saw the thread on printing problems, which I am also having, and am unable to uninstal as you suggest. The system is a Mac mini with MacOS 10.5.8 installed. For the record there is a bootcamp partition running XP. The HP printer is installed there. It worked until a win32 error destroyed the XP install. So now we need MacOS.
The driver was originally installed from HP's driver download site. That didn't work. The printer will print a test page. But all jobs sent from an app stalls in the print cue.
Job shows in the print cue as "Status Stopped" with this message:
Clicking on resume returns the message:
"Operation could not be completed. client-error-not-possible"
So I dug out the disks that shipped with the product and loaded that. That produced the same errors as reported above. Then I found this thread. When I went to run the Uninstall app in the HP Applications folder the app is not there. All previously installed HP printers were deleted from the Print & Fax Prefs. But this did nothing to uninstal the HP Applications folder.
Please help! Thank you very much.

We're having the same problem with our new iMac w/ 10.8.4 OS X. The printer is connected to our wireless network, but says no computer connection, and the iMac doesn't see the printer. We tried downloading HP driver updates that you recommended to 6500A owners, but it doesn't work. Thanks for any assistance.

OK, thanks for that. It could be the router's lack of support for Bonjour. Can you type the printer's IP address into a browser and see the printer's settings? Do you have another router to try?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
