HP OfficeJet Pro X476dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Using the program "DigitalWizards" (used by Network folder Wizard) from the HP Printer Assistant, I tried to use my network Folder Profiles to scan from "HP OfficeJet Pro X476dw" to my domain-joined MS Surface Pro 3 with Win64bit.

Clicking on the "Scan to Network Folder Setup" wizard I got

on Tab "1. Start" two destination folder variants after clicking on the button "Browse":

  • \\FQDN\\SHARENAME - when browsing though "This PC", then "Documents", then selecting "SHARENAME" or
  • \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAME - when browsing though "Network", then "COMPUTERNAME", then selecting "SHARENAME"

on next tab "2. Authenticate" I just used my username + pwd (alternatively: domain\username + pwd)

on next tab "3. Configure" all was fine

on next tab "4. Finish" I presse the button "Save and Test"

Testing Scan Folder Destiantion took roughly 130s and finished with the error message: "Your printer cannot connect the server. Press "Edit" to correct server name and address.

I also tried connections closing the firewall - no success; I anabled SMP-incoming firewall rules - no success

Running the MS troubleshotting wizard in ADmin mode on my machine  "Access shared files and folders on another computer" and entering "\\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAME" yielded "no issues detected"; the same run from another machine yielded problems with the SMB-Protocol.

Interesting enough: when I ran on the "HP OfficeJet Pro X476dw" "Scan to" Wizard, selected my machine, selected a (standard) scan profile ... it would store the document under "C:\Users\USER\Documents" 🙂

please help
