  • I figured it out myself.  When it say s "Print" on the front, with a rotating thing next to it, tap on the word print and then the red x shows up at the bottom.  It has worked for me  because I could never find the red x either.

Yep...that's similar to another suggestion I saw just today.  That one stated "look for the word 'printing' at the top of the task window on the front of the machine.  There you will see a rotating arrow around an 'x'.   Tap on the 'x' and the red 'x' will appear in a new window.  Tap on it, and it will stop the printing."  Just takes a few seconds when you know where to look.  Don't know why HP went to this convoluted method when the old version worked just fine.  Anyway, it was a good learning experience for me, although it cost a lot of wasted paper and ink.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8620.  I am unable to stop a print job.  There is no red "X" on the screen of my printer.  I put in a print job and it had at least 50 pages to print and I decided not to finish the print job, but was unable to stop the printing.  This wasted ink and paper.  I pulled the paper tray out and tried to press the "x" with a circle around it and then the red "X" and it said print cancelled, but when I pushed the paper tray back in, it continued on with the print.  HOW DO I STOP THIS THING FROM PRINTING?  I even turned the printer off and when I turned it back on, it continued to print pages.

HELP!!!!

you will not see a red x initially !

When you print you will see on the printer on the top of the screen a white x and the word printing next to it , press that whiite x

then it will take you to the next screen that has a red x on the bottom left hand corner, touch that and you have now cancelled the print job.

hope this helps.
