First do this:
- Print a Wireless Network Test report from the printer
- Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer
- Move the printer to be closer to the router if the Wireless Network Test Report indicates the signal strength is “Very Low” or “Low”.
- Move the printer away from the router if currently closer than 1m (3 ft.).
- Look at the last page of the Network Configuration Page. Nearby wireless networks will be listed along with the channels they are using. Set the channel in your router to channel 1, 6 or 11 depending on how close other channels are and how many networks are using each channel. Having other network channels close to yours (within 5 channels) is not good. Using a channel heavily used by other networks is also not good. Do not use the “Auto” channel setting on the router.
- Change the channel width in your router to 20MHz (or 54Mbps). Do not use the 20/40 MHz (Auto) or 40 MHz (or 300Mbps) settings.
- If the Wireless Network Test report indicates “More than one wireless router has been found that matches your wireless network name (SSID)…”, try changing your network name in your router to something unique.
Note: you will have to reconnect all wireless devices which connect to your network using the new network name.
- Check that the printer’s “Auto-off” feature is disabled. If this feature is enabled, the printer will power OFF after some period of non-use.
- If you are using a “wireless extender” to extend the wireless signal, try turning it off to see if the problem goes away.
- If you still have issues, set a static IP address on the printer. This can be done using the Printer’s Home Page (EWS) or from the printers front panel on many printer models. Many printer models have a “Suggest IP address” feature. Use this feature if you are unsure as to what IP address setting to use.
Note: You may have to use the “Update IP Address” utility provided by the printer’s software to update the software with the new IP address.
