I am really disappointed with HP. When I bouyght my nprinter, I was never told that I would not be able to use it in another country.
When the cartridges depleted, I bought the ones indicated by the software and still cannot use it.,
It is been two weeks since I got in touch with the local support and so far, no contact back.
Now, I have the most expensive paper weight.
HP surely lost one costumer.

Today, finally they got in touch. But the support guy told me that I had to have the original cartridges in order to print a test page.
As I do not have them, he said there is nothing he can do.
I think I am giving up on HP products.

Hi, I have issue here in Hong Kong.
Bought my HP Photosmart 6510 while living in Japan. Recently moved to Hong Kong.
Cartridges 178 can not be bought in Hong Kong, so I have bought 564, but they are incompatible.
HP support Hong Kong do not seem know how to change regional setting online....
They keep telling me to go to one of their repair service center.
Not only is the photosmart not easy to carry on public transportation, they also want me to pay for changing regional setting!
Everywhere on forums I read that regional setting change should be possible just online when you have your computer, printer and new cartridges at hand. And it should be free of charge.
I really am not happy, as HP does not mention this regional lock when you purchase the product.
Who can help/advise me to change regional setting from Japan to Hong Kong online and for free?

In my case, I only had a solution after the support service put me in touch with a supervisory level. But then, they needed me to print a test page, which was impossible since my original cartridges were empty.
In the end, they offered me a new laser printer, which I accepted, although I used my original to print photos, which is not possible with the laser.

That's of course what I tried before seeking help on this HP Support Forum!!
The Support team in HK keeps sending me to different people, whatever phone number I try.
Finally when I got someone who wanted to help me, he directed me to go to a service center instead of solving the problem online...
I just want that regional code to be changed to Hong Kong ONLINE without taking the heavy Photosmart printer in public transportation to the 'nearest' service center.
