Somebody from HP keeps emailing me, with has my issue been resolved.  The answer is yes, I GAVE THIS HP8600 ALL-IN-ONE AWAY.  It's now someone else's problem.  So, my problem was resolved, but not necessarily to my satisfaction.

Hi Everyone,

If your having margin  issues, Header and Footer issues, alignment issues and envelope print issues. The problem is not an issue with the printer itself, but with the printe driver. You must install drivers for the following printers below to resolve the issue.

Officejet Pro 8600 Pro/ Premium printers

To resolve the issue you need to install HP Deskjet 6980 print drivers and point the driver to the IP address of your printer.

Deskjet 7110 printers

To resolve the issue, you need to install HP Deskjet 7000 (E809a) on Mac OS 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 to resolve issues with margin printing on Mac's. Same applies if your having issues with Windows based PC.

Hope this resoves all you issues.

Thanks,

How about for hp deksjet ink advantage 2545? I have margin issues with this printer. The right margin is wider than the left.

UPDATE: I made some more tests and finally was successful with just choosing the Mac OS X 10.9 / 10.10 Standard AirPrint driver. I can now print duplex from both trays with 100 % page size (~ 0.3 cm bottom margin)

I tried your solution (Officejet Pro 8600 Plus with printer driver HP Deskjet 6980) – thanks for that!

I had a little improvement (1 instead of 1.2 cm bottom margin), but still not the 0.3 cm I had before.

Do you have any update/help to this issue with HP printer drivers

(on a windows 8 machine, I can print nearly to margin 0.3 cm or less with the "same settings")

Thanks for any hint!

I had a similar problem except for me about a 1/2 inch of the top of the document would be cut off.

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 and I went to: Home > Setup > Tools > Align Printhead. It printed one sheet of paper with black and pink lines and squares, and after that the printer seemed to work fine.

Did this solution work and if so, how do I point the drivers to my HP 8600 IP address.  Sorry to be so ignorant.

I had the exact same problem, and toward the bottom of this thread someone said that a stuck envelope caused their issue.  I had already tried the firmware update (it was current) and the hard reset.  I opened the front door of the printer as if I was changing out ink cartridges and looked clear to the right of the inside of the printer, and there were a few pieces of paper balled up.  When I removed all of those, the cartridges aligned and everything started printing normally again!  Good post!
