I am typing out minutes of a board meeting. I connect to my printer with a wireless connection. There are no error messages appearing and nothing has changed on my laptop. I do these minutes on a monthly basis. Any suggestions?

Hi @Di31,

Good Day! Thank you for posting in the HP community. I understand that you require assistance regarding the printer always printing from the top of the page despite setting proper top margins. It will be a genuine pleasure to assist you with this. Smiley Happy

Stupendous efforts. We greatly appreciate you for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. Smiley Happy

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Is it a recent occurrence?
  • Has it worked correctly before?
  • What application are you trying print from?
  • Have you tried with a different application?
  • Have you tried making copies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer?

For starters please try these steps:

  • Please try with a different application like WordPad or MS Word to isolate the issue. I
  • If this application prints fine, then uninstall the application that you have trouble with and try again to print.
  •
  • If this does not work, please try to make copies directly from the printer’s flatbed to check if the margins come out fine. If they don’t then the printer has a hardware issue and you need to get the printer replaced by contacting HP phone support.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

If it copies fine and still does not work, please check the printer’s settings like paper size, paper type, etc. from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ENVY-4520-All-in-One-Printer-series/5447920/model/8900983/doc...

Then check if this works. If it does not then please uninstall the printer software completely by following these steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.

Then reinstall the full feature software from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-4520-All-in-One-Printer-series/5447920/model...

Please select the correct operating system and follow the on-screen instructions. Please update the firmware also. This should do the trick for you. Smiley Happy

Hope this helps.   I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Smiley Happy  Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you. Smiley Happy

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

Thanks for your reply. I have spent time trying other devices and have concluded the fault is with my version of MSWord on my laptop. I can print fine from my ipad and my husbands laptop.  Very grateful for your advice.
