Thank you! That was exactly my problem - scan saved as an all grey page with bits of pink. The solution using Preview works well but is more steps. Any ETA on a software update from HP or Apple that will make our all-in-one Photosmart scan AND save without using this "work around" method?

After reading through this thread and noting our ScanJet 8200 is one of the listed scanners that does not work any more, realised the real issue is HP cannot fix the problem....

I had assumed that it was HP's way to force purchase of new printers (although it seems to be driving users to other mfgs), however, I have seen some posts that suggest newer printers have the same problem. I can't imagine the software fix is tha complicated, but certainly not my area of expertise. I guess they just want us to move to a different manufacturer of printers

Stop wasting our timw tieh work arounds. Fix the problem. You are HP, not some fly by night. The workaround is unacceptable because the resulting files are too large.

I purchased a Brother printer and it works PERFECTLY with my Mac.
I dont have to jump thru hoops to be able to do a simple scan and best of all i dont think i will ever see "Alignment Fail" again.
