Having issues with printer that has worked perfectly for 9 months. Can I start from scratch uninstalling,  then reinstalling printer setup using the provided CD disc without adverse effect? Secondly, how do I correctly go about the uninstall?

Hi,

Spoiler
One question. You suggest reinstalling the "full feature" printer setup download from online. What makes this better than just using the CD setup disk that originally came with my printer?

The HP web would have the latest software available.

Also, if it's offline issues, can you try a TCP IP port before deciding to uninstall and reinstall?

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Let us know if that works

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.  What issues are you facing hat you need to unistall and reinstall?

Steps:

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

The following resource will help you :

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

If you are not sure how to do this, the following resource will walk you through the steps:

Hope that helps!

Thx! I will try your suggestion & reply back with result.  Problem I'm having is I continually get message "HP Pro 6830 (network) is offline. Seems that after printer goes into the sleep mode, I can't print unless I power printer on & off once or twice. The "offline" error message shows even when the copy/scan/fax window is displayed, & I have a constant blue led. One question. You suggest reinstalling the "full feature" printer setup download from online. What makes this better than just using the CD setup disk that originally came with my printer?

I truly appreciate your help Green Turtle. It appears as if my problem(s) have been solved thanks to your typing solutions in addition to steering me to a couple YouTube links to re-inforce & clarify your dialogue. Not being real computer savvy, I've been pulling out my hair for 10hrs+ trying to fix the problems myself before contacting HP support. Once again thank you. My 6830 is now working as it should.       A Happy Camper
