I am getting the following message on my printer" The printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed. I have followed all the instructions on how to fix this problem but nothing works. I read once place that if this continues there is no fix and the printer has to be replaced. Can anyone confirm this for me or do yo know of a fix?

If resetting the printer did not clear the error message then you need a new printer.

Hello Bill,
Resetting the printer can reset the connection with the printhead and clear any error messages.
1)
- Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
2) if the above step does not resolve the issue , then the printer needs to be replaced. You may call HP Support @ 1-800-474-6836
