Deskjet F4280
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

First time on this forum...thank you for reading!

My Deskjet printer (over 6 yrs old) is hard wired to my laptop via the USB port.  Printer was working fine one day, not the next.  Changed printer cartridge and a sample sheet was printed (printer working).

Talked to London Drugs and he suggested I remove the printer driver, connect, reconnect, restart computer, etc...then try to install printer software again.

When I try to install the printer software again, I receive an error message reading:

Operating System on this computer is not supported.   The installation cannot continue until this is resolved.

My laptop is only approx 3 or 4 years old.

Could it be as simple as the cable malfunctioning?  Both USB ports work with a mouse.

Any suggestions on the direction to go would be very helpful.

Thank you!
