Welcome to the HP Forums!

 

I understand that you cannot scan to computer with your HP Photosmart 7510, on Mac OS X 10.11. El Capitan. I am happy to help you with your scanning! 

 

Please try the steps in this guide, A 'Cannot Scan to Computer' Error Message Displays. Select OS X v10.9 Mavericks and OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion, as these steps will work on Mac OS X 10.11. And then choose your connection type, either Network, or USB and follow the steps.

Hi, 

 

I just bought a HP6968 & I have the same problem, can scan from my MacBook Air but the printer doesn't see my mac ( It didn't work when I first bought it last month, then the printer 'saw' my Mac on one ocassion but has gone back to not sensing it)

 

I clicked the link above, it says error 404 page not found. 

I called HP support, was suggested I turn both printer and Mac off and then on again  (Someone's been watching The  IT Crowd) and then asked me to hover over the printer icon and right click it but that didn't work either.

 

Was then told I could be put on with someone who had more technical knowledge but I would have to pay! was tempted to say that I thought I might have more technical knowledge than she did but she's only doing her job. I declined to pay as this is about a month old and I aslo have extended warranty on it - but am wondering why I boiught that if I would still have to pay for technical assisitance.

 

Not happy with HP atm, previous printer was a Canon - great support - just saying.

UPDATE - I searche online and found within the HP support website, how to address the issue and following the steps on this quickly solved the problem.

 

I now suspect that the number I called for HP support was not legitimate as the person coiuld have easily talked me through these steps. Am posting link here in case anyone else has same problem with Printer not sensing their computer.
