deskjet 3420
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was using my hp deskjet 3420 with Windows 7 by using the Deskjet 3600 driver as described at the following link.

Installing an Alternate Print Driver in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection

How would I do this under Windows 10 (64 bit)?

Hi  @appletreasures,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I read your post and see that you need drivers for the Deskjet 3420 model for Windows 10. I would like to help you out today. If this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution" button down below in this message. If you wish to say thanks for my effort to help, click the " Thumbs Up " to give me a Kudos. :generic:

I have provided the steps for trying to add a generic driver in Windows 10.

From the Startup screen, (tiles menu) type in Devices and Printers, select Settings, click on Devices and Printers,

click on Add a Printer. Run the wizard and from the list select the HP Deskjet PCL3 Class driver.

Please let me know the outcome and if there is anything else I can help you with. Thank you.

Hi there, I followed your instruction and selected the  pcl3 class driver but the printer does not function. Can you advise another solution.
