Hi, I am late seeing this but I joined the Instant Ink program when I purchased my printer and I am also in the $2.99/month bracket. So far I am still using the free ink they sent me last year!  I got nervous (like you sound) about what it was going to cost to replace it when it ran out.  My printer has never ordered any ink yet, but I asked for replacement ink based on the level that it appears to be at and guess what? The cost was zero. Read your agreement with them if you are in the Insta Ink program and I think you'll be happy you joined. Good luck.

That is correct - the monthly subscription covers a certain number of pages per month, and the ink will be automatically (or in some cases, on demand) shipped without additional charges.  The printer does need to be connected to the internet so that it can send usage information to the Instant Ink program and order ink as necessary.

DO NOT JOIN THE INSTANT INK CLUB - A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!. JOINED FOR 3 MONTH TRIAL- THEN CHARGED 45 00 AND CANCELED. TOLD I CANCELLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BILLING CYCLE - BILLING CYCLE ON A TRIAL PERIOD. THEN ONCE CANCELLED COULD NOT USE THE INK THEY SENT.. HAVE TWO PACKAGES OF INK THAT I CANNOT USE BECAUSE THEY SEND MESSAGES TO PRINTER STATING YOU CANT USE THE INK. NOW THEY ARE HARRASSING ME FOR A FINAL PAYMENT - A FINAL PAYMENT ON A TRIAL BILLING CYLE FOR INK I CANNOT USE. I AM TALKING TO LAWYERS - THE HARRASSMENT ALONE IS WORTH A LAWSUIT.

PLEASE DO NOT JOIN!
