hp officejet pro 8600 that has started printing only the top half of the page

My HP 0ffciejet Pro 8600 has started printing only the top half of the apge.

Hello apelham,

 

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 recently started printing the top half of the page only. Are you able to print a Status report from the front panel of your printer, sees steps listed below:

 

Setup Menu > Reports > Printer Status Report

 

Does this print only the top half of the page, or does the full sheet print? If only the top half prints, we know it is something in the hardware. Please reply back with the Exact model of 8600 you are using as well as the current Operating system you are running? Also is it printing like that from all programs, like web pages, mail and word?

My problem is it only print the top part (1/10 of a page) from any sources including the report. The carriage tray make a big noise and paper jam message appear. But all the gears seem to work fine beacause I open the front cover and close it and the paper is ejected normally. I have done all the cleaning and inspection, nothing is blocking.

 

I have done all the firmware update check, none was available.

 

Models N911g

Hello @pduperron,

 

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! Smiley Happy I see when you print to your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus the page prints 1/10th of the page and then you get a 'Paper Jam' error message.

 

I would first like you to perform a Hard Reset:

 

1. Unplug all cables and memory cards from the printer. Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer while the printer is still turned on.

2. Unplug the other end of the cord from the power source.

3. If there is a power module on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.

4. After 60 seconds, plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup as they can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time).

5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.

6. The printer should automatically power back up. If it doesn't, turn it on with the power button.

7. Try making a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in-on printer) before connecting any other cables to the printer.

8. Connect any other needed cables to the printer.

I see you have done some troubleshooting steps with no success, please make sure you have not missed any steps listed here: 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays, I understand you are getting a 'Paper Jam' error however the steps listed in the document are what I would like you to do.

I did all the troubleshooting from the 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays  but nothing is working. it did print 2/10 of the page one time but came back to 1/10 of the page. I am wasting alot of time troubleshooting this printer.
