I have a Photosmart Premuim C309a printer.  I have just installed a magenta cartridge and this message comes up.

 

'The following ink cartirdge(s) appeat to be missing or damanged. (pink square symbol) refer to printer documentation.'

 

I have looked in the manual and can't find any soluations.  It's very frustrating, because I can't use the printer!!

Smiley Happy I see you have recently replaced your Magenta cartridge on your HP Photosmart C309a printer and are now getting the error 'The following ink cartridges(s) appear to be missing or damaged. (pink square symbol) refer to printer documentation',  I understand your frustration and would like you to start here:

I have found that with my HP C309A, I get "ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged" with different cartridges nominated each time a re-install one or another. In the end I removed all 5 cartridges, closed the cover, turned off the printer, powered it on, opened the cover, and installed them one by one from right to left. And lo and behold, this worked!
