HP Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have an HP Envy 4520.

Windows 10 : 32bit Laptop

I was printing some documents off for work when a window appeared on my screen when I hit PRINT .. It stated it had an update so I hit OK.

Now after the update I Can Not Pint Wireless or Connected Directly.

I followed the instructions 3 times that appeared with the Error Window Stating Error Connecting to Printer both settings.

Powercycled the Router, powercycled the printer ... tried both wireless and direct connected methods with no progress, just kept getting the error when hitting print ... CAN NOT PRINT, PRINTER NOT FOUND.

i tried by uninstalling the update but when I hit Print the update window came up again and the only option is to click OK.

There was no way to close the window either.

I even restrated my Laptop to get rid of the window and tried again but that window kept coming up.

I clicked OK once again to see if the update just did not go in correctly the first time.

Nope, no printer found once again.

It is imparative that I have my Printer for work purposes.

Today I am putting my work on a thumb drive and headed to Staples Business Depot to print my work ... it is costly to do this.

It may be cheaper to purchase another printer, I am going to compare.

If the update was bad (some are) please let me know how to uninstall correctly (might need a scrub file) and be able to print again.

Thank you

Hello, @Jameela – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I see that you are having issues printing on your Envy printer after the latest update. Do not worry, we can fix this issue by following the steps below:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61220/mp-147799-1/EN4520_72.exe to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

I actually printed your instructions from my iphone email.

That obviously worked.

I followed the instructions for my laptop very carefully but now printer is there but no scanner etc.

I'm exhausted with this for the last 2 days.

Please help me get my Printer/Scanner working correctly.

Hi! @Jameela, I am the MrRobot. It looks like you were interacting with @Dvortex, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

Thanks for the response and time.

Kudos to you for trying out the steps.

Have you tried updating the printer drivers?

Try performing a network defaults on your printer and check if it helps.

From the printer control panel, you can set up and manage your printer wireless connection and perform a
variety of network management tasks. This includes viewing and changing network settings, restoring
network defaults, and turning the wireless function on or off.

Also, refer this article to further troubleshoot printer not found during network driver setup.

Let me know if this works!

Cheers! 🙂

I ended up taking everything out with the steps again and rebooting.
I did a system restore for 1 month.
Reinstalled the printer by plug n play and refused the update.
All is well now.
Just proves it is a bad update and there either needs to be a fix or instruct to follow uninstall options listed but not to click the link and just do system restore for before the update and refuse the update.
