My HP 1018 drivers have become corrupted and I tried to download new drivers. This did not make the printer work. I tried to uninstall and reinstall via the Print and Scan Doctor, but it informed me that the HP uninstaller is missing and that I must do it via Windows control panel.
However, there is no HP program mentioned in the uninstall program device on the control panel.
How do I remove the old drivers?

Hi JD_123,
Download and install the host based driver from the link below.

Hi Dr_Paul,
Open the Devices and printers folder, and then right click on the Laserjet 1018 printer and click on Remove Device. Power cycle the printer and the computer, and then plug the USB cable into the printer and computer. Let windows install the in OS driver built into Win 7. The other option is to click Add Printer and then select the Lasejet 1018 driver from the list of available drivers.

I'm having the same issue and tried your suggestion, but there were no 1018 drivers available in Windows 7. Even used the Windows Update button to search for more printer models, nothing. Every other driver I've used results in the shutdown of the print spooler. I've tried every fix for that problem also, deleting the items in the w32 spool\printer folder, removing and reinstalling the printer with every driver I could find, no luck.
