I just bought a brand new HP LaserJet P1102w and cannot connect it via wireless to my Mac at all. I'm running Mac OS 10.8 with the latest software updates. I have already downloaded and installed the latest software and firmware directly from the HP site. I cannot seem to configure the printer to work on wireless, although the HP website says it's supported with Mac OS 10.8.
When I go to System Preferences > Print & Scan > Options and Supplies... > Utility > Open Printer Utility > HTML Config... in order to try and connect it to my wifi network (running on a brand new Airport Express), all I get is the following:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 6 at column 48: Entity 'nbsp' not defined
error on line 12 at column 8: Opening and ending tag mismatch: link line 0 and head
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
HP LaserJet Professional P 1102wUSB
How am I supposed to use this wireless printer wirelessly? Your website says it's supported but when I have all the updated software and firmware on my printer and my computer, it doesn't work. I'm extremely disappointed in HP at the moment and hope you can provide a viable solution.
Mac OS 10.7 has been out for over a year-and-a-half and Mac OS 10.8 has been out for nearly 3 months now. It's ridiculous and disprespectful to your cutomers to not have proper drivers and firmware available to ensure your prodcut works as you say it should.
I look forward to your solution.

Hi JustenB84,
So when you installed the driver that I shared with you, did you try the wireless setup via the HTML Config Utility again? Open the printer queue (USB) and then click on Settings. Select Utility and then open the Laserjet Utility. Then click on HTML Config. Does the tool come up now so that you can enter the settings for your wireless network?

Hi JustenB84,
The current software for your Laserjet P1102w available for this printer is actually not supporting Mountain Lion. Officially, this Laserjet can only be installed in Mountain Lion via AirPrint.
For this you need to connect the Laserjet in ad-hoc mode to your Mac first. On the WiFi of your Mac look for the printers SSID. Hence you selected this SSID you can open the EWS (embedded web server) via the Bonjour Bookmark in Safari. This Bonjour Bookmark you can enable in the Preferences of Safari. Then open the Bonjour Bookmark and select the printer (it might be listed in a subfolder Printers or Websites). Within the EWS you can now go to Network - Wireless and make the settings for your network.
When the Laserjet is now connected to your Network, open the System Preferences Print & Scan. Click on the Plus icon to add a printer. Select the Laserjet. Next to Use you should now find AirPrint listed. Also see this document: Installing the Printer on a Mac Running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion (Network Connections Only)
However, a software version for 10.7 is available on a HP.com that I also tested successfully in Mountain Lion. With this software you can also try the USB to Wireless setup via HTML Config: HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver
(You might need to change the Security settings to "Allow applications downloaaded from: Anywhere". You can change this back after the installation was done.)

Hi,
I sorry to hear about the problem you are facing, I truly hope this situation will get resolved shortly.
Please follow the steps below in order to bypass this situation and conect the printer to your router using a temporary direct connection:
- Turn the printer Off.
- Press and hold both the wireless and the cancel button, and then turn the product on.
- Hold the buttons until all the lights blink in unison, and then release the buttons.
- From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon and select Join Other network.
- Click Show network and select the printer's SSID, it should include HP, P1102, Laserjet, etc.
- If you're not sure which network name belongs to the printer, print a network configuration page by holding the Cancel button, it will be listed on the right side within the network information.
- Allow 4-5 minutes till the ad-hoc connection will be fully established
- Open Safari and click the Bookmarks icon (
), then select Bonjour.
- Double click the printer name, the EWS page appears.
- Click the Networking tab, and then click Wireless from the list on the left.
- Under Communication Mode , click Infrastructure , select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list, and then click the >> button.
- From the Security Mode pop-up menu under Authentication , click WEP or WPA/WPA2 . Your selection depends on which Wireless Security Protocol your network uses.
Note: if you aren't sure what security type is used, click the Wi-Fi icon on your MAc and select Open Network Preferences. Select Wi-Fi and click Advanced, within the Wi-Fi type you should see your router name with its security type listed right next to it.
If your network does not have Wireless Security, leave the Security Mode set to Open System (No Authentication). - Type your WEP/WPA/WPA2 key in the appropriate field, and then click Apply
- In the confirmation box, click OK , and then close Safari.
- From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon and select Join Other network.
- Click Show network and select your home network again, now both of the devices connected to your home network .
- Open Print & scan, click the Plus button and add the printer listed as AirPrint.
Regards,
Shlomi

Hi JustenB84,
Can you please confirm that if you press the Wireless button, the wireless light does never start blinking and never turns on?
If that is the case I suggest to perform the following reset and then try again the installation via USB using the driver that I shared to you in my previous post. Make sure that the older driver is uninstalled first (you can find the uninstall in the folder Mac HD/Library/Printers/hp/Laserjet/P1100_P1560_P1600 Series).
Wireless Reset:
- Make sure that the Ready light (
) is on and that the product is idle and silent. - Press and hold the Cancel button (
), and release it when the Ready light (
) begins blinking. The Configuration page prints.

I've performed the uninstall, install, and reset as you indicated. The button acts the same as before: I press the button, the blue light blinks for a period, and then turns off.
The printer does not show up in Bonjour bookmarks or as anything other than a USB connection in System Preferences > Print & Scan.

Hello Mandy,
It seems to be working now. I dont' know why it wasn't working with the driver I downloaded from the HP site, but it's up and running now. Thank you for your aide.

Hi JustenB84,
Thanks for the feedback. Great it is finally working for you as well. ![]()
FYI: I changed the link for the driver download as the version with the fix for HTML Config is now back on the HP websites.
