HP LaserJet Pro M277dw
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

Hi

Please could someone from HP please tell me if the scan and printing functionality on the HP LaserJet Pro M277dw will work on Windows Vista 64-bit? I'm tempted on buying it but was put off by reading threads such as http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/HP-LaserjetPro-M277dw-printer-and-windows-vista-drive...

I don't need to even print or scan wireless I just want to be able to do connected through my PC.  I appreciate the thread above is almost a year old so wanted to check if HP had taken care of the issue now as I don't want to upgrade my PC either.

Thanks

Jimmy

Hi,

The printer is not supported on Windows Vista 64-bit, it is only supported on Vista 32-bit as listed by teh System Requiremetns below:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Color-LaserJet-MFP-M277-series/7089945/model/7089949/document...

64-bit support is only offered for later OS versions such as 7, 8 or 10.

You may only get print capabilities using the HP Universal Print Driver for the printer, no other solution is avialable for the OS, meaning no Fax or Scan functionality is offered by the HP Software for Windows Vista 64-bit.

As a reference you may see Page 8 of its user guide below:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04474163

If required, you may download and install the HP UPD PCL 6 driver to get print functionality for the printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL39348/lj-95981-14/upd-pcl6-x64-6.2.0.20412.exe

Although scanning is not supported by the HP Softwre for your operating system, you may get limited scan functionality by using the Direct Digital Filing features such as Scan to Email or Scan to a Network Folder, a such can be set with no need of any software.
