Updated to Mac OS X Lion (from the App Store) on the Mountain Lion (from the App Store). Office printers HP 3600 and HP 3052 work fine as before. HP 3052 scans perfectly and saves documents. Installed printers configured as write Morandi, big thanks to him again for his detailed instructions. Perhaps something you did wrong.

Did you reinstall the Laserjet software? Or you just continued with the installation that you had done under Lion?
This is what I get upon reinstall. http://postimage.org/image/f604kn2sx/

OMG!!!! I got it to work!!!!!
Ok.. so here's the trick... if you go into /Applications/HP LaserJet Software directory, you'll notice that it installs everything and then when it gets to the .icns installation file, it immediately erases everything it installs!
So.... what i did is I "forced quit" the application _right_ as it was going to get to that and erase everything.
Then the rest of the installation instructions from Morandi work!!!
This is a good day.

Thank you empr. I was having exactly the same problem as you with Mountain Lion (after it previously worked with Lion) and your suggestion appears to have worked. I have no idea how it installs just the right amount of stuff when doing the almost random Force Quit, but it apparently does. Scanning with USB or Network works now. I think you saved me $300 for a new 3390 replacement.
Why won't HP just fix a simple install problem like this? I have several HP printers now and have had HPs in the past. But not supporting something like this will certainly make me look at other printers first in the future.

Thank YOU Empress!
I just moved to Mountain Lion and this caused my
HP 3055 scanner to stop working
(even though I only upgraded from Lion, i did NOT do a clean install).
When I tried to use my own instructions to re-install the HP 3055 scanner,
I run into the exact problem that you described and showed in the image you posted:
when the installer gets to the .icns installation file, it fails and erases everything
that it previously installed.
So I tried your suggestion: to brute "Force Quit" after the AiO installer installs
all the needed stuff and just before it gets to the .icns installation "fail" point.
I had to try a few times till I got it right (not too early, not too late), but
after this, I was able to continue with the usual instructions and it worked!
Thanks again for your help Empress ! !
Without it, I would have given up and thrown away my printer.

I'm used a clean install of the Mountain Lion on the new HDD and now I can not install the scanner HP3052 network with any of the proposed methods in this thread. Get the error "An error occured ..." (screen shot).
Someone faced? How do you solve the problem?
