HI!!! I desperately need help.

 

Got a used LaserJet 1300 that has been working fine for a while.

 

Lately i tried printing from a new PDF program, it printed an EMPTY page, and stopped working.

when i turn on the printer, it powers the motor (as usual, for about 10 seconds), everything seems fine, but then the indicators start blinking (after 1 second after power on):

 

The indicators show the following:

Small upper GREEN led: BLINKS

Small lower yellow led: SOLID

Big Go button: BLINKS GREEN.

 

so, 2 green leds flash, and 1 small yellow (orange) led solid.

 

I've downloaded the service manual and there's no such indication!

 

i tried resetting the printer disconnecting from power and waiting 10 minutes; powering on:

- with GO button pressed for more than 30 seconds;

- also with GO button pressed for more then 5 seconds but no longer than 30 seconds.

 

i tried re-inserting the catridge; pressing the door; re-inserting the paper (there's a lot); re-inserting the blue cable (behind the left door). 

 

nothing helps. 

Tried asking HP via chat but they don't even accept the serial number below the printer - i cannot even ask them a question what that light combination means.

 

Could anyone help please??

If you press the big green button while the lights are on or flashing, does the light pattern change to something else?

It would appear you have a formatter issue but that is not 100%. To make sure since you have the service manual look for the page with the engine test and perform it. If the engine test works that will indicate the formatter has an issue. If the engine test does not work then it could still be the formatter or the engine control unit. One item that is not documented that I seem to recall since it has been a long time is an issue with the laser/scanner cable connection at the formatter. Again use the service manual and with the power off remove and reseat the cable and see if that makes a difference.
