I've tried to follow a couple of suggestion on HP forums, but I'm continuing to get the Fatal error at 99% when installing the printer driver after downloading it from the HP site.  hp.care/2dHmvpy Trying to load on the new laptop HP Notebook 15-ay163nr.

Hello@jmooney,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.

Need assistance in installing the printer driver on your new HP Notebook. Did I get it right?

Congratulations on your new HP Notebook.

I would suggest you to try the step shared below and then restart the PC and try installing the driver once again and check if that solves the issue.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  • Select your HP Printer
  • Select Uninstall
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  • In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  • Click on the "Drivers" tab
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  • Select Ok
  • Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  • Close Devices and Printers

Then use the link below and download the driver and install it on the PC.
