Getting it to work in Mac is a mess. This printer will work with Parallels though!
Connect the printer and let Parallels take control of it: go to DEVICES--> USB --> HP Laserjet 1018
Download & install the Windows driver here:

I am using a MacBook Pro 13Inch. using Snow Leopard 10.6. After much frustration, and help from the Mac GURU Terry at Station Earth in Fergus, Ont. we found if you use " HP LaserJet 1022, 126.96.36.1991" it works great. it does not work with the "Gutenprint" version of same driver.

Thank you Hooligan!!!
I have a brand new iMac desktop with Snow Leopard and my old trusty HP LaserJet 1018 now working perfectly with the "HP LaserJet 1022, 188.8.131.521" driver that was preinstalled on the Mac's Harddrive.
After reading some complicated and sketchy solutions on a couple other forums I decided to search some more, hoping for simple solution ... well this is IT!!

HP LaserJet 1022 - Guten v5.2.3 is listed on the options provided by my MAC OS X 10.6.7, however "HP LaserJet 1022, 184.108.40.2061" is not. Guten does not work as you all said and I've already tried looking for 220.127.116.111 online but haven't had any luck. Can you tell me where I can download it? Thanks!
