Officejet Pro 8610
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I go into preferences, change from Normal, to Draft, hit Apply, go out, come back in and it has switched back to Normal!!I know HP makes money on ink, but I was using plenty when it would print in Draft, IMHO....

Hello, @Pchuter3 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for engaging in the HP Forums! I see by your post that you are experiencing issues while changing the preferences. I will certainly do my best to help you 🙂

Did you try changing the printing preference from the devices and printer screen? That is where you need to change the preference if you need to make the changes permanent. Try the steps below:

  1. First, go to Control panel – Devices and printers.
  2. Right-click on the Officejet 8610 and then select “Printing preferences”
  3. Now change the quality settings to the “Draft” mode, apply and save the settings.

If the issue persists, the issue could be with the drivers installed. Try re-installing the drivers and then follow the steps listed above:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51190/bi-124097-4/OJ8610_Basicx64_198.exe to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂
