Working on an iMac running 10.10.5. Printer was working fine and just stopped. I've swapped to a brand new usb printer cable, changed to another 1102w printer and reinstalled printer software with no luck. All four usb ports checked & confirmed that they work. I've also updatede the os via app store.

Here is the one thing that really baffles me, when I plug in the printer cable I get a pop up that says the disk is not readable by this computer, ignore or eject.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and understand that you have an HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer and it does not get detected via USB on your Mac computer. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job. Maybe I can help.

I did some research and found that there are no drivers available for Mac 10.10.5 on the HP website for this printer. However, we can install the Mac inbuilt printer drivers and that should help.

I recommend you to perform the below steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a solution:

Uninstall the printer drivers from your Mac computer: http://hp.care/2gFygOv

Post uninstalling the printer drivers, please reset the printing system in Mac as shown in this video: http://hp.care/2f9ksug

Please download the Mac inbuilt printer drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2flF56z

Now, you can add the printer drivers in Mac using the following steps: (Refer to link for steps with images: http://hp.care/2dIaVyB)

  • From System Preferences, click on Print & Scan.
  • Click the Plus sign.
  • Select the listed Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One (This printer's drivers should work).
  • Click the drop-down menu next to Use or Print Using and click on Select Printer Software.
  • Select the Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One from the list.
  • Click OK to confirm your selection and add the printer, then try printing using the configured print queue.

I sincerely hope this helps. Feel free to let me know the outcome. Good luck! 🙂
