Recognizing Additional Paper Tray

Brand new LaserJet Pro 500 and 500 sheet paper and heavy media tray (Model CE522A/part number 2273B00AA). Machine will not recognize paper tray. 

Last night, I left everything unplugged and both pieces separated - put them back together this morning, then plugged power and network back in and turned it on. When the machine boots up, I see "Genuine HP Installed",  "Configuring" and "Initializing" messages.

I have an open case with HP Support. She emailed me this morning to say that the part number I sent didn't pertain to the tray and that the serial number I sent was from the printer. I took the numbers directly from the tray and am losing faith in a hurry.

Please let me know if there is a setting or driver that I'm missing, or a quick trick to make it go.

Hi,

The CE522A 500-pages tray is not intended for any model of the Laserjet 500 printer, it is intended for previous models such as the CM3530 printer as an example.

What is your exact printer model?

The M525 model supports the CE530A tray:

The M551 or the M570 models supports the CF084A tray:

Where did you get the tray form? it is not intended for your printer and therefore cannot be used with it..

Thank you, Shlomi. At least that's an answer. I'll get it returned and be more diligent about getting the right one.
