Laserjet CP1025
Linux

I have a laserjet cp1025 and have run it on various versions of Linux mint and never had a problem installing it via the hplip site. However I have upgraded to Mint 18 and when I try to install I get an error message saying that Mint 18 is not supported.

Any ideasof how this be corrected?

Hi,

Linux Mint 18 isn't listed as supported indeed:

You may follow these steps to perform a manual install as the operating system is not yet supported by the installer:

This has worked brilliantly thanks. I followed the instructions slavishly and everything works fine. I guess hplip will support Mint18 at some point.

I'm not sure if this the right place to comment further but the history of this particular printer is interesting. It has always printed in very dark colours over several different versions of Mint that I have used and several different versions of hplip. My solution, which works quite well, is to copy the picture and then using GIMP to increase the brightness of the picture around 80% which looks odd on screen but prints fine. That's really a bit cumberson but I don't print that many colour pictures.

I run a small retirement business and have persuaded a number of my customers to adopt Linux, some never having had a PC before.

I always recommend they have an HP printer.
