To New_macuser_nj: To my understanding, there were 2 units in questions. Skulesike first aasked about the 4215 (4200 seires) which does not have drivers for scanning on 10.6. It has a print only driver available. After that he made a second post asking about possible drivers for the 4300 Series. This is a seperate product range which does still have a complete driver package available.

 

Sorry for any confusion.

I do work for HP printer support, but as normal, any advice or opinions given are my own.

Thought I would keep this thread alive with the following link from Apple's Discussion board.  Apparently, scanning for the 4215 should be available by next year (2010).  There are two posts as recent as October 2009 indicating that the link between Image Capture and the OfficeJet 4215 is on its way.

At long last, the HP 4215 now scans in Snow Leopard!  Updates are available Software Update.  Preview and Image Capture now recognize the device as a scanner, and might I add, the Apple scanning software is playing very nicely with Adobe Distiller.  Huzzah, Apple and HP for making this happen!  I get to keep loving this printer now.
