Hey there!
Check the scanner light
To check the scanner light, make a color copy of a document or image. Follow these steps to make a color copy.
- Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the input tray.
- Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
- On the control panel, press the Copy button (
) to make a blank copy. - While the product scans the document, lift the scanner lid slightly to see if the scanner light is on. It is not necessary to lift the lid completely.
CAUTION:Do not look directly at the scanner light. The scanner light should be visible under the scanner glass to the right or left.Figure 1: Scanner light visible underneath the glass

- If the scanner light is not on when the scanner mechanism moves across the scanner bed, skip to the step in this document to reset the product.
- If the scanner light is on , continue to the next step.
Step two: Check the power connection on the All-in-One and make a blank copy
Follow these steps to check the power connection on the HP product.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn off the product. - Unplug the power cord from any surge protector, extension cord, or power strip, and then plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet.

) to turn on the product. - Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the input tray.
- Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
- On the control panel, press the Copy button (
) to make a blank copy. - If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
NOTE:If the product works properly when plugged directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip or surge suppressor, the power strip or surge suppressor might not allow enough voltage for the product to work properly. - If the issue persists , continue with these steps.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn off the product. - Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, and then plug the power cord into a different wall outlet.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn on the product. - Try to make a color copy again.
- If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
- If the issue persists , see the next step.
