C4580 Mac problem (another one)

Hi guys,

I realise there have been loads of questions about this particular printer...but here's mine.

I bought this printer about a month and a half ago and everything's been running swimmingly, until now. I tried to scan and I get the message 'Sorry, scanner could not be initialised (scanner not found)'

And now I can't print either. I'm a little irate; I can still print from my windows laptop but not from my iMac (10.5.8 OS X).

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the disc, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the download.

I'm really at a loss and very very frustrated; your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Oh, and the printer will print a test page just fine, but if I send something to the print queue it just says 'stopped'

Thanks!

Re: C4580 Mac problem (another one)

Have you deleted and re-added the printer in the print queue? Let's try that:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
- Select the plus sign and re-add it.

If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

OK, let's back up.  How is the printer connected and to what?

Re: C4580 Mac problem (another one)

During the set up, the printer is connected to the iMac via USB, as per the instructions. Following the instructions I remove the USB cable once the installation is complete.

The router I am using is a BT Homehub. The printer is working fine from my windows laptop.

Re: C4580 Mac problem (another one)

Is the HomeHub a DSL router/modem combo?

Did you try resetting the printing system as per my post above (not just delete and add)?

Re: C4580 Mac problem (another one)

Yes it's a dsl modem router combo.

Yes I tried resetting the printing system, still no joy.

Now the printer has decided it's not going to work with my windows laptop either.

Re: C4580 Mac problem (another one)

Your problem may be with your router.  Try this.  It is not exactly for your router and printer, but I think both the problem and solution are similar.
