CM1312nfi doesn't scan at OSX Lion

Hi everybody,

I own the Colour Laserjet cm1312nfi and recently updated my system to OSX Lion. Under Snow Leopard everything was working fine. After updating to Lion the printer still prints, but doesn't scan. Checking the system preferences, there is no possibility to scan, even after updating the printer drivers. 

Does anyone have any ideas?

I too had the same trouble but found that if you simply put a SD Card(2GB) in the front of the printer you'll be amazed at the results!  Here's the long story of what I went through Yesterday.  Hope it doesn't bore you too much

I also have this issue but with a little twist.

I have the HP 1312 hooked up to a MacMini which is used as the house server for Mail, Web, Automation and Printing.  With thte HP director and Scan software installed on all machine in the house, printing and scanning was flawless.  When ever a document was placedon in the feeder, HP director was activated on all machines in the house.  

Under lion, I can print to this as a network printer but because it's a network scanner, I have no options.

As the MacMini is in a server closet in the house, I can't run to the closet each time I need to scan or if my waife or kids need a scan.

Moving to Lion has completely removed the functionalaty or the multifunction printer.

HP, Please fis "Director and Scan" and release a new copy to help your customers.

Hmmm, if you put a "SD Card(2GB)" in the front of the printer slot will the 'Networking" attach the SD card to the MacMini and have it pop-up on your Desktop as it does on my iMac?   

If so you should be able to scan like I did. The "JPEG" scans don't turn out quite as clear as the "TIF" scans though.

To scan into the SD card all you need to do is:

1) Press 'Scan Menu' button.

2) On the menu select 'Scan to a Memory Card'

3 Press the 'OK'  button, that has the the four arrows around it, and the scanning should start.

After the scanning is done simply 'Open' or click the SD card on your desktop and you'll find in the folder that which you scanned and you can copy it anywhere.

Hope it works on a 'network'. My connection is a USB port.

P.S. I always leave the SD card in the printer now so that I can always do scans when I want too.

Not sure if this will be true for everyone but here goes. After updating to OSX Lion 10.7.2 I had no scan capability with my HP CM1213nfi MFP. I tried the insert a SD disk method but had mutiple disk errors and partial scans. In frustration here is what I did.

1. I downloaded the HPPrinterDrivers2.8.dmg and installed it

2. I restarted my computer

3. After @*!^?/ around for a while I found that if I launched HP director not HP scan and then instead of selecting scan I selected scan to folder. Instantly, my documents from the auto feeder scanned directly to my desktop in JPEG format.

Next I will try getting it to scan in PDF, Into different folders etc etc.. Stay posted and good luck

Yeah, I got an e-mail from HP saying there was an update for printers that are using Lion.  I got a new printer last month.  

I should have waited a little longer.  Guess I was a little to eager. Oh well.

Yup.  Stopped working as soon as I upgraded to Lion.  I have done the the firmware update and the software driver update 2.7, both released in Dec. 2012, and it still crashes straight away.  This printer was a mistake.  I am quite sure I lost business when I first bought it and depended on it as a fax machine.  Just started dropping received faxes.  Only solution was to buy a cheapo Lexmark to receive faxes.  Doc feeder sucks too.

Thank you, I'll give this a try.  Do you know if this new driver will provide Twain support?   I would like to Use a software called ScanDrop but it requires Twain support to see the scanner.
